The CBF Coordinating Council has identified four theological schools as Fellowship identity partners, receiving institutional funding and scholarships from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. At nine additional schools (identified as Leadership partners) students are eligible to apply for CBF Leadership scholarships. Potential undergraduate and graduate students in our church will be interested in further information regarding these opportunities at http://www.thefellowship.info.

The Lilly Endowment Inc. has provided the second major grant to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Continuing the Initiative of 2003, the intent is to expand further learning opportunities for ministers and other congregational leaders across the country. More  information regarding these extraordinary opportunities is available http://www.thefellowship.info.

Belmont University, currently embroiled in a lawsuit with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, has further angered some convention leaders by appointing non-Baptists to its board of trustees.  In a December 2006 press release, the Nashville school announced that eight new trustees had agreed to join the board in January. While all newly appointed members of the board are Protestants, only two belong to Baptist congregations. Only one of the newly appointed trustees belongs to a TBC-affiliated church.
Belmont’s position is that the school’s growth, denominationally diverse student body and increasingly prominent reputation necessitate the inclusion of trustees from other Christian traditions. Check the following sites for the ongoing story on the controversy.
