Current Volunteer Opportunities
Middle Tennessee Medical Center is always looking for volunteers! Applications can be found on our website http://www.mtmc.org at either entrance of the hospital. Current openings are in thefollowing areas:
- Breast Health Center Greeter: Monday - Friday 8 am - noon - would be greeting patients and alerting staff when they arrive for appointments, maybe some filing or helping with copies
- Nursing Floors: anytime of the week or weekend, any hours - assisting with restocking supplies, taking water or ice to patients, helping care for plants / flowers of patients, writing letters for patients, assisting secretary with copies, bracelets
- Emergency Dept: anytime of the week or weekend, any hours - assisting registrar with forms, copies, etc. Distributing coloring books or teddy bears to children in waiting room, assisting with restocking supplies, breaking down charts, making coffee for waiting room
- Pharmacy Dept: assisting with light computer work, running errands to departments, working the tube system
- Transport: anytime of the week or weekend, any hours - assisting discharged patients from room to pick-up at front entrance
We also have folks who volunteer from home sewing teddy bears and baby caps as well as shawls for our cancer patients.Please contact Maureen Caudle, MTMC Volunteer Services, for more information at maureen.caudle@mtmc.org.
Read To Succeed is launching a new program called Get Started! This program is designed to serve those learners that are in the program but waiting on a tutor. Volunteers will meet with these waiting learners for an hour or two a week for a few weeks before they are paired with a tutor. During this time learners will work on improving real-life literacy skills like banking, reading maps, filling out forms, reading menus, family literacy, and job skills. We need your help to make this program a success! We need real-life materials like:
- menus
- applications to doctors and dentists
- job applications
- local maps
These materials can be mailed to PO Box 12161 Murfreesboro TN 37129 or dropped off at First Baptist Church for Read To Succeed. We also need Bookcases, Paper Shredder, Bulletin Board, Colored or white printer paper, Gift cards to any office supply store or WalMart.

- Family Resource Center--baby furniture, clothing for babies, children, men and women, household items, and furniture.
- Child Advocacy Center--Good Start Formula, diapers sizes1 & 5, chlorox wipes, individual snacks, juice boxes, bottled water

Domestic Violence Program--(all sizes) T-shirts, pants, underwear and bras for Sexual Assault Care Packages

Greenhouse Ministries--Diapers (Size 4 and 5), Paper Products (paper towels, etc.), Plastic hangers
