In April 2009, our church’s Facility Master Plan Committee presented both a long range Master Plan and a smaller “Phase One” plan to our church. Both of these plans were overwhelming adopted on May 17, 2009. Click here to see the original presentation. Click here to see the architect’s renderings of both the Master Plan and Phase One.

In the fall of 2009, a church-wide capital campaign called "We’re Here for Life" was conducted to fund Phase One of the Master Plan. The campaign’s slogan reflected the church’s commitment to be a lasting and life-giving part of down-town Murfreesboro. ByNovember of 2009, $1,837,000 had been pledged toward the Capital Campaign.
The 3-year giving period for "We’re Here for Life" began in December of 2009. ByJanuary 2012 approximately 85% of the money pledged has already been given. For an updated total of gifts given to "We’re Here for Life" check the most recent copy of The Witness online. |
Phase One Implementation Committee
A Phase One Implementation Committee was elected by the church in December 2009 to “develop a building plan based on the Facilities Master Plan Phase One/Capital Campaign, present this plan to the church for approval, and oversee the implementation of the plan as adopted.” On March 14, 2010 the committee presented a proposed plan for consideration to the church, along with a survey form to allow the church members to give their response. The report was accompanied by a letter from our Pastor as well as a financing proposal.
On April 18, 2010 a town hall meeting was held to hear a detailed presentation of the resulting proposal and have a further question and answer period. Click here to view slide show. The following Sunday the church voted to proceed with the plan subject to a successful budget commitment campaign which included funding for the projects. A budget commitment campaign was conducted in May titled "Let There Be Light...Let Your Light Shine!" which resulted in pledges more than 10% higher than the previous year! On June 27, the church approved the 2010-2011 budget, including funding for new construction, by a vote of 228 for and 13 against, or an approval rate of 95%.
CrossRoads Construction
On January 3, 2012, Orion Construction presented a guaranteed maximum price of $2,038,425 to complete the CrossRoads addition. The Implementation Committee and Budget and Finance Committee voted unanimously to proceed with the project. The target completion date is December 14, 2012. Charlie Myatt presented an update to the church on Sunday, January 8, 2012. Click here to read this report.
The Phase 1 Implementation Committee is currently proceeding with plans for the CrossRoads addition. The committee is grateful for the church's participation in this process and covets your continued prayers as we attempt to "let our light shine."
