Promotion occurs each year on the first Sunday in August. Babies and Toddlers can be promoted throughout the year as they develop. Once the child is promoted into the one year old room, they are promoted once a year on the basis of their birth date. We follow the Rutherford County School system in setting August 15 as the cut-off date for promotion. A child must be born prior to August 15 to promote up to the next class. A parent may request that a child is held back if they are going to delay Kindergarten for a year.
A Nursing Area is located in the Baby Room of the Preschool Suite.
Arriving and What to Bring
Please knock at the door and a teacher will greet you to take your child and bag. A parent should allow his/her child to walk into the classroom when possible. This can foster independence and ease separation. Be sure to complete the security sticker procedure. If a parent must go inside the classroom, we ask that only one parent go inside.
Parents are encouraged to bring their child to church well rested and fed. This can go a long way to help preschoolers have positive experiences at church.
Preschoolers may bring security items with them (blanket, pacifier, etc.). This item should always be labeled with the child’s name.
Toys should not be brought from home for the following reasons:
- Personal toys may not meet the standards in our procedures (see safety and security),
- We would not want a child’s toy to be broken or misplaced,
- Preschoolers have a difficult time sharing their own toy with a group.
Until a child is fully potty-trained, parents should send the following items in a bag:
- Disposable diapers,
- Plastic bottles (containing premixed formula) or an empty cup,
- An extra change of clothes.
Please knock at the door and a teacher will greet you and return your child and belongings to you.
If a parent must go inside the classroom, we ask that only one parent go inside.
