Academy of Fine Arts

"Praise Ye the Lord, Praise God in his santuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.  Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.  Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.  Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.  Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.  Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.  Praise ye the Lord."  Psalm 150: 1-6

Established in 1995, the Fine Arts Academy provides quality music education in a Christian environment, maximizing the student's musical potential with the goal of enabling each individual for ministry, personal enjoyment and musical enjoyment.

Academy lessons are open to anyone of any age. Children, youth and adults are encouraged to develop their talents. Certain areas of study may require minimum age requirements determined by the teacher.

Instruction is currently available in the following areas:

  • Violin and Viola
  • Guitar
  • Piano
  • Voice
  • Fiddle
  • Mandolin
  • Bass

Lessons are taught weekly during afternoon and early evening hours Monday through Friday, at a mutually acceptable time agreed upon by teacher and student. No lessons will be taught during times which conflict with the scheduling of First Baptist Church activities. The Fine Arts Academy schedule runs concurrently with the school year, September through May. Summer sessions also are available during the months of June and July. Lessons are not provided on holidays or when Rutherford County Schools are closed.

Lessons canceled by students require a 24-hour advance notice, except for emergencies. Excused absences are permitted for sickness and death in the family. Make up lessons will be scheduled at the discretion of the teacher. Lessons missed by the teacher must be made up.

A non-refundable registration fee is required of each student receiving lessons. The first student in a family will pay a $30.00 registration fee; each additional student in the same family will pay a $20.00 registration fee. Lesson fees are $18.00 per lesson per student. All fees are based on a 30-minute lesson. Hour lessons also are available. Art lessons are taught classroom style at a reduced rate.

Fees are due monthly on or before the first lesson. Fees are payable only by check made payable to FBC Academy of Fine Arts and given to the Academy administrative secretary. A late fee of $10.00 will be assessed after the 15th of the month.
